The Figo Aspire is Ford’s first offering in the packed subcompact sedan segment which has models such as the Maruti Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest among others. It is available in both petrol and diesel guise, with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 88PS of power and 112Nm of torque while the 1.5-litre diesel unit puts out 100PS and 215Nm of torque.

Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while a dual-clutch automatic transmission is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine that puts out 112PS and 145Nm of torque. While the manual and automatic variants return a fuel efficiency of 18.16kmpl and 17kmpl respectively, the diesel offers a claimed mileage of 25.83kmpl.
#2. Maruti Swift Dzire

Maruti Swift along with Swift Dzire D compact sedan incorporate the company’s time-tested 1.3-litre, Fiat-sourced the DDiS diesel engine, which produces 74bhp of power output and 190Nm of peak torque. Like Celerio, both of these cars are offered with ABS and airbags as optional extras across all variants, whereas VDi and ZDi variants get both as standard.

#3. Volkswagen Ameo

Volkswagen has launched its first sub 4-metre sedan, Ameo, at a starting price of Rs 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The pricing, though introductory, makes it cheaper than even the Polo hatchback!

The Ameo is currently available with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to 5-speed manual gearbox but a diesel variant with the upgraded 1.5-litre TDI engine will be launched in August along with one with a DSG automatic transmission. The sedan will be available across all VW showrooms starting July 2016 and is expected to give tough competition to Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest among others.
#4. Hyundai Xcent

Hyundai has launched a special edition of its sedan, the Xcent, at a price of Rs. 6.22 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Some of the upgrades include addition of a 6.2-inch touchscreen audio system and a special edition badge at the rear.

Other cosmetic updates are addition of side body decals and boot lip spoiler. Only 2,400 units of the car will be produced to maintain exclusivity.
