The latest hatchback from the Indian carmaker, Tata Tiago has been crafted on a new platform with a design philosophy never seen before in Tata cars. The Tiago is offered in both diesel and petrol avatars with prices ranging between Rs 3.2 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) as the current waiting period stands at no less than three months.
The former is a 1.05-litre unit that generates 70PS of peak power and a peak torque of 140Nm while the latter is a 1.2-litre engine that churns out 85PS and 114Nm. The Tiago delivers a claimed mileage of 23.84kmpl and 27.28kmpl for the petrol and diesel respectively. Tata will soon introduce the AMT version of the Tiago (around the festive season); the petrol AMT will be launched first and the diesel version will come in later.

Volkswagen has launched its first sub 4-metre sedan, Ameo, at a starting price of Rs 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The pricing, though introductory, makes it cheaper than even the Polo hatchback!
The Ameo is currently available with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine mated to 5-speed manual gearbox but a diesel variant with the upgraded 1.5-litre TDI engine will be launched in August along with one with a DSG automatic transmission.
